Project Brief
As part of Norfolk House’s comprehensive £3 million refurbishment project, Commercial Lighting was approached to provide multiple lighting solutions for the main reception, corridor and stairway areas. The client was keen to integrate the lighting as an architectural element, wanting to transform previously unremarkable liminal spaces into bold and dramatic zones. For the stairway in particular, a large custom-built pendant was desired to occupy the full height as the central feature.
Solution
Whilst our Sovereign MIDI Downlights provided a clean and effective Main Reception illumination, we designed and developed a custom linear trimless LED recessed profile system for the building’s numerous corridors and walkways. This innovative solution, using our Sovereign Broadline Reccessed range, delivered a stunning illumination in the lobby areas, beautifully integrated into the building’s architecture. Additionally, we built bespoke light boxes for the elevator floor numbers, transforming functional objects into features for each floor.
The final solution was the stairway’s feature pedant. Designed to provide a full-height dramatic focus to the three-floor staircase, the custom-built modern chandelier was the perfect centrepiece for Norfolk House’s multifaceted lighting plan.
